Uploading video on Flickr

I successfully uploaded some videos. When doing this, the Flip video files are stored under "my documents"; (that is, after you have saved your videos from Flip camera to your PC.)

These look great, Yat! Any feedback on the Flip camera?

Also, I think we should devise a naming convention for the uploads to Flickr, as you were suggesting at our initial meeting Yat.

How about listing the neighborhood and the date in the title and then the exact street address in the description. Make sense?

I scoped out my own neighborhood just to get a feel for the types of advertisements. You might say I was "casing" the area.

I did not take any pictures with the flip camera but I did play around with it to get a feel. I do not like it as much as the conventional digital still cameras. I especially have a hard time with the concept of taking a video and then creating stills. When I use it to get the test photos maybe I will have a different opinion since I haven't used it for downloading.

Yes, I think naming the uploads with the title and description convention sounds great Jessie.

It's not as easy to get the exact still you want from the video. Maybe we should stick with uploading the entire video instead of making and uploading individual pictures (because there are multiple ads from each address). With pictures, they have to be uploaded individually. It's easier to just upload the entire video I think. However the upload photos process is a snap. Uploading videos to Flickr is a more involved process than w/ photos.

I found the Flip video very handy to use, esp. having worked with traditional camcorders before. The uploading video process is a little tricky because it is not obvious where the video file is located on one's PC drive after transfering the video from camera to PC. After finding the "help" topic on it, that's when I found the video files are saved in the My Documents folder. Uploading pictures however are a snap.

The editing features are limited on the Flip video. For example, I wanted to cut out a section of the video (because people passed by the ads, etc.) but I couldn't. I can only change the start and end parts of the video.

Great, thanks for the feedback Toby and Yat. I'll be interested to hear what Heidi and Sehrish have to say about the cameras.

I think it's fine, Toby, if you'd prefer to use your still digital camera and load pix from that it's fine. I'll just want to get the Flip camera back for another project.
