Results from Week One Pilot

I know that people are busy with other things, but I want to remind everyone that we all agreed to take photos using the Flip cameras and post those in the Flickr account by now. So far, only Yat Ping has done this. I'd like to see everyone else's photos and read your feedback on the camera and the instrument by Monday, 6/16.

I used the flip video and find it cumbersome. I could not figure out how to get stills from the video so I am uploading my test shots as videos. I will use my own digital camera since it is much less bulky and since I have a 4 gb chip it holds lots of stills and videos if necessary. I also have a usb adapter which allows me to place my chip in it and then attach to the computer. Smaller than the flip so doesn't stick out as much.

The tool was fine but I think carrying around the papers can get messy. I found that trying to take the picture and holding the papers was a task. The good thing is that once we embark on the project we will be in pairs and therefore one can take the pictures while the other writes.

It took a few times to download the files to flickr. It doesn't tell you the problem but just gives you a message that the file didn't download. I wonder if this is because of the camera or the website.

Yes, I didn't have success w/ uploading one of the videos too. To get stills, in edit mode of the Flip camera, you'll see "Snap" button which will take a still shot. The tricky part for me is getting to the right point of the video to get the shot I want.
